My Mother’s Poem
My mothers poem
I've crossed paths with the one who birthed me
Once a pigtailed little girl as I
With eyes so bright, and full of life.
I forget that you were once like me.
Once a little girl with big dreams
With eyes that sparkled so wide and bright
I forget sometimes, the same ambitions kept you up at night.
I forget that you too were once just a girl with big wings
Just as you taught me to spread them, you're right there with me.
As I grow and learn the world around me
You were once a girl that had to do the same
You showed me your strength, instead of showing me your pain.
But they’re is beauty in both lanes
My mothers strong, and her wings are wide
But I forget that she was once a little girl, just as I
