I’ve Always Wanted A Little Sister….
I’ve always wanted a little sister
Someone who could understand how it feels to be younger
Someone who runs and hides at the sound of thunder
To be the little one, slightly overlooked, but never missed…
I see that in you
That same ambition
Also, that same burden
Provoked by misunderstanding
But selflessness holds your tongue
You have grown to be set apart from the expectations
And purity has preserved you….
Just as the sun shines through my blinds at an angle, right before it sets
Gracefully transitioning
Illuminating and refreshing
I take it in, and appreciate its presence.
I close my eyes and thank My God for allowing me to come across such a light , such beauty
And in that, is every remembrance of you….
So fun and free
And wise as can be.
As I sit and listen to your frustrations, I give you my undivided attention
Because I know listening ears doesn't come around often, just like me…. little sister.
The way that wisdom flows through my spirit when encouraging you inspires me
Not only are these words of wisdom directed towards you
But to the little girls with big emotions often misunderstood
Who was overlooked growing up….. But never missed.
I always wanted a little sister, someone who could understand how it feels to be younger
Who could not only tear down hate, but to be able to wrestle with thunder
I see that not only in you, but in me too.
The little sisters we once knew.
