What is Ray’s Roux?

What’s up?

                  I’m already imagining people saying to themselves “how did she come up with the name “Rays Roux", it's kind of a funny story actually, but it has a very deep, meaningful meaning.

     Let's go back to February, the month where God confirmed for me that he wanted me to do this. I was so excited to start. I had almost everything thought out, everything but the name. I wanted the name to be catchy and something that is me. I remember me praying and telling God that’s what I wanted my name to embody, I needed his help though. Throughout my classes, I would write down catchy names that would come into my mind, there's a paper in my journal filled with names, one of them that I was about to settle with was “Peices of Ray” which is cute, but it wasn't the “me” that I was looking for. The name had to be great, but I just couldn't put my finger on the right one yet. I frustratingly closed my journal and went about my day, knowing that God would give me a name, but I wasn't sure when.

 Forwarding to the month of March, and time is ticking, “God, you want me to do this, I need a name to start.” I remember saying (exactly on March 8th) in my dorm room, little did I know, God was going to amaze me. In the middle of me making dinner a couple nights later( exactly March 12th,2022), I started to think about my father, and reminiscing on me watching him cook, audibly in my head, I heard the name “Ray’s Roux”. “WHAT! Thank you Lord!” I rush to get my journal and write it down, God gave me an explanation of the name and how it pertains to my blog

      “Roux is what makes the gumbo, it's the base, the foundation to its amazing taste and flavor. Ray’s Roux is my roots, and who I am inside, what makes Ray, Ray.”

With me being from South Louisiana, Gumbo is a large part of our culture, and in my family, not only is Ray’s Roux is an ode to my culture, it has a deeper meaning that focuses on who I am spiritually, Jesus is my foundation, my rock, my Roux to the flavorful gumbo I am today lol. I love that so much.

    God is so creative yall! I literally could not have figured out this name on my own, let alone the meaning behind it. I believe as I really begin to get deep into this blog, that God will reveal more meanings for me as to why he picked the name Ray’s Roux, and I would be happy to share them with you.
