Blogmas Day 6

Setting the standard.

With being a christian in this day and age, one thing that is required of us is to set the standard in the world.

The bible talks about how we are in the word, and not of the world, this topic has caused some controversy to some people, but simply, the closer you desire to be to God, the less you become like the world, the more you have to let go of things that either you idolize or things that do not glorify God.

I remember being younger, and I would listen to secular music that I grew up listening to, but knew that the things they were saying in the song went against everything that I stood for in God, but the songs were kind of sentimental to me, I liked the beat lol… I struggled to stop listening to the music, and I expressed this to God, even though I tried to stop, I chose to give this struggle to God, and keep pushing.. One day,  I just stopped caring about that type of music, and had no desire to listen to it at all. God took the desire away from me. When your heart is purely in a place to desire and want more of The Lord, there is nothing in the world that he would not do to move any obstacle in the way. He fights for you daily!

One thing that God has been ministering to me, is setting the standard. Protecting your own spirit and relationship with God, saying no and setting boundaries. Setting the standard of the presence of God is meaning to push away things that you know takes you out of the presence of God. This looks different for everyone, but we all have the same goal at the end of the day. Saying no for me, and protecting myself from environments that I know serve me no good is something that I lately have been dealing with. Having strength in that area shows a lot of how much you love yourself as well. I love to say no to things that may seem degrading of me and my character. When we become close to God, our thoughts become his, and one way to keep it that way is to protect it. Protect the presence of God in you from this wicked world. That may look like letting people go, stopping eating at certain places, closing open doors etc. God is so amazing that he will highlight these things for you, not condemn.

I love yaaaaaaaa!
